ACTIVITIES RELATED TO THE FINAL PROJECT OF THE RUFFORD FOUNDATION ARE ONGOING AND AIM TO:

  •  DEVELOP AN ACTION PLAN

  • IDENTIFY AND PROTECT KEY WOLF HABITATS IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

USING ADVANCED FIELD AND LABORATORY TECHNIQUES, THE PROJECT WILL ASSESS POPULATION DYNAMICS AND THREATS SUCH AS HYBRIDIZATION. BASED ON THESE FINDINGS, THE FIRST ACTION PLAN FOR WOLF MANAGEMENT IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA WILL BE DEVELOPED, WITH THE SUPPORT OF RELEVANT INSTITUTIONS.

IN ADDITION, LOCAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND CAPACITY BUILDING FORM AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE PROJECT, HELPING TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE COEXISTENCE.

THE PROJECT OUTCOMES WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE LONG-TERM SURVIVAL OF WOLVES IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND THE WIDER REGION.

Initial analyses at Bardača

At the experimental site in Bardača, which we cleared and filled with water, we carried out the first analyses with the aim of establishing the baseline state of biodiversity. We collected water samples for plankton and benthos analyses, as well as water and soil samples for pesticide testing. In addition, we conducted the first test boat ride.

These activities were carried out within the framework of the DaWetRest project.
